HEAT Training & Operational Preparedness
HEAT Training & Hostile Environment Preparedness for Corporates | Alioth Group
Under Article L.230-2 of the French Labour Code, employers have a legal obligation to prepare their staff for the risks associated with international assignments. Alioth Group delivers bespoke Hostile Environment Awareness Training (HEAT) programmes designed to give your teams the knowledge, reflexes and confidence to operate safely in complex and high-risk environments. Our trainers are former Special Forces operators and security professionals who have worked in the environments your teams will face. Every programme is tailored to your sector, your destinations and your team’s experience level — from first-time travellers to seasoned expatriates. We train individuals, teams and families.

Training programmes
Every module. Every context. Built around your team.
Our training offer covers the full spectrum of hostile environment preparedness — from cultural awareness to hands-on emergency response. Each module can be delivered standalone or as part of a comprehensive programme.
Hostile Environment Awareness Training (HEAT)
A comprehensive preparedness programme covering threat recognition, personal security behaviour, checkpoint procedures and emergency response — for teams deploying to high-risk environments.
Cultural & Security Awareness
Destination-specific briefings covering cultural sensitivities, local threat dynamics and behavioural security principles — reducing exposure through awareness rather than just physical measures.
Emergency First Aid in Hostile Environments
Practical trauma care training adapted to field conditions where professional medical support may not be immediately available — including haemorrhage control, airway management and casualty evacuation.
Offensive & Defensive Driving
Hands-on vehicle security training covering evasive manoeuvres, ambush response, convoy procedures and safe driving practices in high-risk and unstable environments.
Kidnap & Abduction Awareness
Awareness training on how abductions occur, how to reduce personal exposure and how to behave during a kidnap scenario — giving your teams the psychological preparation to manage extreme situations.
Family & Expatriate Preparation
Tailored sessions for expatriate families relocating to or living in high-risk environments — covering daily security routines, emergency communication plans and personal safety protocols.
03
Training that goes beyond the classroom
Our training programmes are built on three principles that ensure your teams leave prepared — not just informed.
Trained by people who have been there
Every trainer is a former Special Forces operator or experienced security professional with direct field experience in hostile environments. They teach from reality — not from a manual.
Fully tailored to your context
We do not run generic courses. Every programme is built around your destination, your sector and your team’s profile — from multinational corporations to small NGO field teams.
Legal compliance included
Our training programmes fulfil your obligations under Article L.230-2 of the French Labour Code. We provide full documentation so your organisation retains proof of compliance for every participant.

FAQ
Who is HEAT training designed for?
Our training is designed for anyone deploying to or living in a high-risk environment — corporate employees, NGO field workers, journalists, expatriates and their families. We adapt the content and intensity to the participant’s experience level and destination.
How long does a HEAT programme last?
Programme length depends on the modules selected and the group size. A standard HEAT programme runs over two to three days. Targeted single-module sessions can be delivered in a half-day. We define the scope with you based on your timeline and budget.
Can training be delivered on-site at our offices?
Yes. We deliver training at your premises, at a dedicated training facility or in the field — depending on the modules involved. Practical exercises such as defensive driving require appropriate outdoor space, which we can organise.
Does training fulfil our legal duty of care obligations?
Yes. Our programmes are designed to fulfil employer obligations under Article L.230-2 of the French Labour Code regarding employee safety during international assignments. Participants receive a certificate of completion and we provide full documentation for your HR and compliance records.
